How does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My media coursework challenges convention of real media products because in real media horror products they slowly build up tension and then have a shock factor. This is what we did in our media product. We also made it so the audience expected something to happen but didn't know when it was going to happen. Emily also challenged conventions of real media products by being the heroine and not being killed off first. This shows that Emily is the final girl, this is a binary opposition to the typical horror film girl. They will be usually blond haired, sexually active busty. Emily is like Jamie Lee Curtis who plays Laurie Strode in "Halloween".
We also have shots like match on action, over the shoulder shots and also privilege point of view shot. These shots are used throughout media productions such as "Halloween" (John Carpenter ,1978)

How does your media production represent particular social groups?
I think we represent our target audience well with a age rating of 15-24 year olds. We know that people of these ages enjoy horror films compared to people a little bit older.
We could of represented ethnic groups better by maybe having some different race actors or actresses in the film. But we represented the upper middle class well as the film will appeal to the upper middle class and lower middle class.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product?
There are many media institutions that might distribute media product. These are institutions such as Screen Yorkshire, Working Title, WT2 and Warp X. As our media production was extremely low budget compared to Halloween which was $320 000 or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) which was $9 200 000. With our media production as it has such a low budget the media institutions more likely to distribute my production would be WT2 or Warp X as there films are usually low budget. Through this we can get funding from the UKFC (UK film council) which is funded by the national lottery. Through the UKFC we will be tapping into the New Cinema Fund which encourages unique ideas and finances films with passion and verve. This may then move on to the ICO (Independent Cinema Office) which may help to get my media product into film festivals. This may then lead on the distribution company's such as Film Four or BBC Worldwide distributing my film around the UK.

Who would be the audience for your media production?

Who would be the audience for your media production?
How did you attract/address your audience?
Our media product is aimed at teens to young adults of the age of 15-24. This is because of the age of the actors in my media production and also the content of the media production. It will also appeal to males as we have the male gaze which is the main protagonist. We also tapped into different social groups upper middle class (C1) and lower middle class (C2).
We also attracted our audience by the music i composed for the media production. The music that we used was a typical style to horror films.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
With the technologies that i used to create our products i found them easy to use and still had a good quality to them. I used a hand held digital camera which I also used with a tripod which was really useful for some shots.
We could of benefited with some other equipment such as a dolly for the tracking shots. Also a boom mic to pick up the sounds better and to cut out some of the background noise.
One of the most important things for me was the lighting. We could of had a set of lights to light some of the really dark scenes up.
But with all this equipment there would of been a cost which we wouldn't of been able to pay for.
Looking Back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
To me the preliminary task was nowhere near as technically challanging. I think that the skills that we learnt in the preliminary task have progressed loads as i started taking into acount shot types and angles, camera movement and also mise-en-scene more. I think aswell in my preliminary task i wasnt taking it serious enough, where as in my full product i took it more seriously and got into the technical side more. I also learnt how challanging it is to film a 2 minute opening scene of a film.
